Consumer or Patient Determinants of Hospital Brand Equity: A Systematic Literature Review
Selected by Luis Da Silva
Hospital brands are shaped by the service people encounter. This review brings together 32 empirical studies and maps how perceived quality, patient experience, satisfaction and other factors relate to hospital brand equity. For General Value, the useful question is how a promise becomes visible in everyday interactions: the clarity of an appointment page, the explanation of a service and the consistency of follow-up. That application is our editorial inference. The review offers a framework for asking better branding questions; it does not establish that a new identity, website or campaign will increase revenue, or that findings transfer unchanged between countries.

Study and evidence
Systematic review of 32 empirical studies on hospital brand equity.
How to read it
A peer-reviewed systematic review, not a new primary experiment or meta-analysis. Different methods and geographical settings prevent a pooled causal claim. The literature coverage ends in January 2022; it does not test current AI search, clinical efficacy or financial return.
Why it matters
Our editorial interpretation: connect brand strategy and communication with the experience of a health service. Use the study to ask whether the promise is clear in appointments, service explanations and follow-up; validate any proposed change locally.
